Clavox:
Amoxycillin:

Broad spectrum synthetic penicillin antibiotic
Exhibits favourable pharmacokinetics / pharmacodynamic profile and high bacteriological efficacy.

Clavulanic Acid:

Only beta lactamase inhibitor which is orally bioavailable.
Less renal elimination than Tazobactum and Sulbactum.
Highly effective in protecting against beta-lactamase degradation of both penicillin and amoxycillin.

Indication:

Dosage & Administration:

Adults and Children over 12 years	One Clavox 1.2g vial every 8 hours
Severe infections	One Clavox 1.2g vial every 6 hours
Mild to moderate infections	One Clavox 625mg tablet two times a day
Severe infections	One Clavox 1000mg tablet two times a day
Children : 3 months - 12 years	30mg / Kg Clavox 8 hourly
Children : 0-3 months	30mg / Kg Clavox every 12 hrs. then increase to 8 hourly
Adult dosage for surgical prophylaxis	1.2g Clavox I.V.
Operations with high risk of infections	Require three and up to four doses of 1.2g in 24 hrs.

Renal Impairment:

The Clavox 1000mg tablets should only be used in patients with a glomerular filtration rate of >- 30ml / min.

>- 30	No change in dosage (i.e. either on eClavox 625 mg tablet bid or one Clavox 1000mg tablet bid)
10 - 30	One Clavox 625 mg tablet bid The Clavox 1000mg tablet should not be administered 1.2g I.V. stat. followed by 600mg I.V. 12 hourly
< 10	Not more than one Clavox 625 mg tablet every 24 hours 1.2 g I.V. stat. followed by 600mg I.V. 24 hourly + 600 mg I.V. dose during & at the end of dialysis.
