Product Specification
Clindamycin Injection USP:
  • Good soft tissue penetration
  • Appropriate spectrum of activity covering staphylococcus, streptococcus and anaerobes
  • High bacterial density may be associated with decreased expression of penicillin binding proteins.
  • Strongly suppresses toxin production by staphylococcus, streplococcus and clostridia.
  • Improved outcome with Clindamycin when compared with beta lactam antiblotics for invasive streptococcal infection
  • Administration with food does not impair oral absorption.
  • Serum levels exceed MIC for most indcated organisms >- 6 hour safter recommended doses.
  • Reappraisal of Clindamycin IV mono therapy for treatment of mild-to-moderate aspiration pneumonia in elderly patients.
Indications:
  • Upper respiratory infections including tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis media.
  • Lower respiratory infections including bronchitis, liver abscess, abdominal abscesses biliary tract infections.
  • Pelvic infections including endometritis, cellulitis, vaginal cuff infection, tubo-ovarian abscesses, salpingitis and pelivic inflammatory disease.
  • Bone and joint infections including staphylococcal osteomyelitis and spetic arthritis
  • Septicaemia and endocarditis.
Dosage and Administration:
Clindamycin Hydrochloride Capsules.
Adjuts
 Serious infections - 150 to 300mg every 6 hours
More severe infections - 300 to 450 mg every 6 hours
Pediatric patients
 Seriosu infections - 6 to 12mg/kg/day divided into three or four equal doses

Clindamycin Phosphate Injection:
Adult
 Serious infections - 600 - 2700mg/day in 2.3 or 4 equal doses either IM or IV administration
More severe infections - 1200 - 2700mg/day in 2.3 or 4 equal doses
Neonates
(Less than 1 month)
 15 to 20 mg/kg/day in 3 to 4
equal doses
Pediatric patients
(1 month - 16 yrs.)
 20 to mg/kg/day in 3 or 4
equal doses either IM or IV
administration
