Tecoplan:

Powerful Bactericidal
Activity against both anaerobic and aerobic gram positive pathogens
No Cross resistance with other class of antibiotics
Exhibits Synergy with Aminoglycosides. Bactericidal Synergy in vitro with aminoglycosides against enterococci (group D streptococci) and staphylcocci has been demonstrated
Active against both Methicillin sensitive and Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus
Effective against Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium spp. Clostridium spp. and anaerobic gram positive cocci.

Clinical Outcome / Teicoplanin Predose Concentration:

S. aureus Septicemia (n = 80)	90% (Cmax > mg/L)
S. aureus Endocraditis (n = 21)	91% (Cmax > mg/L)

Indications:

Dosage & Administration:
Can be given both IM or IV
Adults:

Septicaemia / Bacteraemia / Acute or Chronic Osteomyelitis	400 mg IV every 12 hours for 3 doses then 400 mg once daily as maintenance dose
Septic Arthritis	800 mg IV every 12 hours for 3 doses than 800 mg once daily as maintenance dose

Pediatric Patients (Children aged 2 Months - 16 yrs.):

For Severe infections & infections in Neutropenic patients	10 mg/kg IV every 12 hrs. for 3 doses and then 10 mg/kg IV as a single dose once daily
For Moderate Infections	10 mg/kg every 12hrs. for first 3 doses and then 6mg/kg as IV or IM as single dose once daily
